At Hannover Messe 2024, Siemens presents the first generative artificial intelligence (AI) product for engineering in an industrial environment. The Siemens Industrial Copilot, the generative AI-powered assistant, is now seamlessly connected to the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal. This will enable engineering teams to find the right help topic and to generate a basic visualization and code faster for programmable logic controllers (PLC). As a result, they will be able to significantly reduce their workload and offload repetitive tasks to the Siemens Industrial Copilot. In addition, the engineering of complex tasks will become less susceptible to errors. This in turn reduces development times and boosts quality and productivity over the long term. The Siemens Industrial Copilot for TIA Portal Engineering will be available for download from the Siemens Xcelerator marketplace starting in summer 2024.

At the
Smart Production Solutions (SPS) fair in Nuremberg, Germany, November. 8-10,
Siemens will be presenting technical innovations and practical examples for
greater sustainability in production. Easier, more open, more flexible and more
sustainable production and planning processes – all of this is achieved through
end-to-end automation and digitization to become a digital enterprise.

Siemens AG has agreed to sell its Siemens Logistics business to Vanderlande, a company owned by Toyota Industries Corporation. Vanderlande is a leading global partner for future-proof logistic process automation in the warehousing, airports, and parcel sectors, and with that will be a strategic long-term owner for Siemens Logistics. The purchase price (enterprise value) is €300 million. Closing is expected in the course of calendar year 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.

Sustainability is the leading theme of this year's world's flagship trade fair for the process industry, ACHEMA, in Frankfurt. In the Green Innovation Zone and the Digital Hub at the fair, Siemens will show how industrial companies can efficiently combine digitalization and sustainability. "As one of the main CO2 emitters, the process industry is under particular pressure to produce in a climate-friendly way," says Eckard Eberle, CEO Process Automation at Siemens. AG have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate collaboration
on technology that converts non-recyclable waste into clean energy. The
collaboration aims to advance sustainable, local energy security, enabling
hydrogen-powered electric vehicle charging infrastructure without compromising
grid stability or impacting consumer prices.

Siemens is
launching its new Industrial Edge Management System, an optimized license
management solution as well as new devices and apps at the SPS trade fair in
Nuremberg, Germany from November 8 to 10, 2022. As part of the company’s
continuous development of its Industrial Edge capabilities, these solutions
bring Operational technology (OT) and IT closer together in industrial
production, enabling a seamless flow of data from the field level to the cloud.

Bicycle helmets made to measure and in an
affordable framework for everyone - what was unthinkable a few years ago is now
becoming reality thanks to digitalization and additive manufacturing. The head
is simply scanned with a smartphone app and the process for the custom-made
helmet is initiated. Siemens, together with EOS, has supported this vision of
the bicycle helmet manufacturer Hexr. Siemens' Digital Enterprise portfolio
consists of software and automation solutions that optimize process steps along
the entire value chain of additive manufacturing. This holistic approach is
unique in the field of the industrialization of additive manufacturing. With
the help of end-to-end solutions, Siemens has created the digital twin of an
industrialized additive manufacturing factory, helping to optimize the design
and streamline the production processes for customized bicycle helmets even
before production begins. By combining simulation, design optimization and a
high degree of automation in production, the costs per part could be predicted
and significantly reduced, allowing Hexr to scale the scan-to-print application
to mass production.

has signed an agreement to acquire the industrial drive technology (IDT)
business of ebm-papst. The business, which employs around 650 people, includes intelligent,
integrated mechatronic systems in the protective extra-low voltage range and
innovative motion control systems. These systems are used in free-range
driverless transport systems. The planned acquisition will complement the Siemens
Xcelerator portfolio and strengthen Siemens’ position as a leading solutions provider
for flexible production automation.
