Siemens
Mobility has been chosen by Metrolinx, the regional public transit operator
for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, to handle their track, signal, and right-of-way maintenance for the
Central Region of Toronto's passenger railway infrastructure system. This
partnership builds upon Siemens Mobility's existing maintenance services in the
West Region and signal and communications services at the Metrolinx Network
Operations Center.

Each year,
Siemens presents the Inventors of the Year award to outstanding inventors in
six categories: Newcomers, Open Innovation, Outstanding Invention, Lifetime
Achievement, Design and User Experience and the recently added PhD Award. In
addition to helping explain artificial intelligence (AI), the prize-winning
inventions also make power grids more sustainable, railcar axles more stable

Siemens delivered solid performance in the second quarter, successfully meeting the high demand for digitalization and sustainability technology. Notably, the industrial software business showed strong growth with particularly high demand in the semiconductor industry. Demand from customers for the construction of data centers also showed strong momentum. Currently muted demand in the short-cycle automation business at Digital Industries, particularly in China and Europe, was largely offset by strong revenue development at Smart Infrastructure and Mobility. In addition, Siemens took a key step in focusing its portfolio with the sale of Innomotics to KPS Capital Partners for €3.5 billion.

The company has already integrated future technologies in its portfolio, such as its new machine tool controller specifically designed for digitalization, Edge and cloud computing, artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing, and is leading the machine tool world to the next level of digital transformation. "With our unique range of digitalization solutions, we are paving the way for the future of the machine tool industry and helping our customers, machine builders and machine users, to find new and more comprehensive ways of using rapidly growing data volumes to increase their productivity, quality and competitive edge", explains Dr. Wolfgang Heuring, CEO of Business Unit Motion Control. ViaQuatro has successfully begun full operation of São Paulo’s entire Metro Line 4 with Siemens Mobility’s Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling. Since its first stretch opened in 2010, it has been the first fully automated metro line in South America that can operate with GoA 4, the highest grade of automation that allows trains to be automatically controlled and operated. The digitalized and optimized system allows for a more efficient and centralized control of operations, while also increasing the safety, availability, and capacity across the entire network.

Siemens announced its collaboration with 80 Acres Farms, a leader in the
indoor farming industry. With five production farms in southwestern Ohio, a new
farm in Florence, Kentucky, a future farm in Covington, Georgia, and R&D
facilities in Arkansas and the Netherlands, 80 Acres Farms specializes in
growing the next generation of food — food grown in eco-friendly indoor farms
closer to consumers’ tables.
The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and Siemens
Mobility GmbH announced yesterday at the UITP Congress in Barcelona that they
will further intensify their collaboration to promote sustainability in rail
transportation. As part of the cooperation, new automation technologies will be
developed and tested to increase capacity and reduce energy consumption in rail
transportation by the UITP World Congress in 2025 and 2027. The joint focus
aims to make a concrete contribution to the set sustainability goals.

Siemens
Mobility has been awarded a contract by RTS Operations to design, install and
commission a Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system and
Platform Screen Door System on the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit (RTS)
Link. This will be the first ever case of CBTC technology being used on a cross
border rail link. The 4 km system connecting Johor Bahru, Malaysia and
Woodlands, Singapore will be operated by RTS Operations, a joint venture between
Singapore rail operator SMRT and Malaysian public transport firm Prasarana.
Once completed, the RTS Link will be able to transport an estimated 10,000 passengers an
hour in each direction, helping ease current congestion at existing border
entry points, improving cross-border connectivity and bolstering economic
activity in the region. The line will also be equipped with GoA 4, the highest grade
of automation that allows for trains to be automatically controlled and
operated.
