Through this collaboration, the partners aim to help customers by enabling them to optimize their internal processes even faster across all parts of their companies. With
Sinamics G115D, Siemens presents a new, compact, and powerful drive system
specifically designed for horizontal conveyor applications. The drive system
comprises motor, frequency converter and gearbox in one unit and is offered in
two versions – wall-mounted and motor-mounted. The Sinamics G115D drive system
is characterized by a robust design with a high IP protection class (up to
IP66) and is therefore also suitable for use in harsh environments. Thanks to
its compact dimensions, the Sinamics G115D can be installed easily even in
confined areas. The drive system can also be operated reliably over a wide
temperature range of -30 to 55 degrees Celsius. The Sinamics G115D drive system
is suitable for applications in intralogistics and airports as well as in the
automotive and food & beverage industries and is available in the power
ranges 0.37 to 7.5 kilowatts for wall mounting and 0.37 to 4 kilowatts for
motor mounting. The drive system can be put into operation quickly and easily
with comprehensive integration into the TIA (Totally Integrated Automation)
portal including the Startdrive commissioning software, or the Sinamics G120 Smart
Access Module (SAM) web server tool for setup and diagnostics. To be prepared
for the digital transformation and to enable cloud-based analyses, Sinamics
G115D is integrated into the entire MindConnect portfolio and is compatible
with Mindsphere applications such as Analyze MyDrives.

The Managing
Board and Supervisory Board of Siemens AG have approved the sale of Flender GmbH
– a world-leading supplier of mechanical and electrical drive systems – to Carlyle.
The contracting parties signed a corresponding agreement today. The price is €2.025 billion (enterprise value). Siemens
recently gave its energy business independence through a public listing. By
selling Flender, the company is now promptly taking another important step in
the rigorous execution of its Vision 2020+ strategy for enabling Siemens
to become a focused technology company. Carlyle’s plans – following Flender’s successful
reorientation – are to further accelerate its growth and fully develop its
strengths through more independence and greater leeway for decisions. The sale also
makes it possible to forgo the originally planned spin-off and public listing
and thus offers a faster track to clarity for a successful future of Flender. The
transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2021 and is subject to
foreign-investment and antitrust approvals.

The software system has been developed for global use in industry.

The Siemens Arts
Program has launched an audiovisual art project in partnership with pianist
Annika Treutler and media artist Alexander Stublić. The project is based on
Piano Concerto Opus 25 by the composer Viktor Ullmann, who was murdered at
Auschwitz in 1944. The art project features an elaborate new 3D audio recording
of the concerto alongside a virtual reality media art installation. The music
was recorded at the RBB concert studio in Berlin in partnership with the
Deutschlandfunk Kultur radio network and performed by the Berlin Radio Symphony
Orchestra conducted by Stephan Frucht (Artistic Director of the Siemens Arts
Program).
As a virtual event, the Siemens Machine
Tool Days provide insights into digital solutions for the machine tool
