Siemens Mobility will upgrade the entire 170 kilometers long S-bane
network in Copenhagen to the highest grade of automation (GoA4 technology) to
enable unattended train operations starting with the first phase in 2030. Respective
contracts have been signed with Banedanmark (BDK) and
DSB recently including the necessary signaling equipment for trains and
wayside. GoA4 will allow the operator to run more trains in the entire system, enhance
the level of passenger experience, secure the current punctuality rate and will
future-proof the network. The new contracts have a total volume of about 270m
Euros and build on the original contract from 2011 to equip the Copenhagen
S-train network with the Communications-Based Train Control System [CBTC].
Siemens Mobility GmbH achieved the ISO 27001 certification on July 1, 2022. The ISO 27001 certification encompasses 20 Siemens Mobility locations in Germany with more than 9,000 employees and involves Siemens Mobility Business Units, such as Rolling Stock, Rail Infrastructure, Turnkey Systems and Customer Services and all disciplines, including procurement, development, production and project management. ISO 27001 is an internationally acknowledged standard specifying cybersecurity requirements that organizations must fulfill and to which they must adapt. Increasing digitalization brings benefits – as well as the need for adequate protection against cyberattacks. Rail operators face new cyber threats and cyber laws are giving rise to new requirements. Siemens Mobility offers secured products and solutions that are integrated into one holistic security architecture and provide security services. With these, Siemens Mobility secures rail systems from end to end throughout the complete lifecycle. The ISO 27001 certification is another building block in the protection of the entire development and production lifecycle for mobility systems. The ISO 27001 certification is a milestone for Siemens Mobility on the way to digitising the rail industry.

Siemens Mobility is pleased to announce that it is acquiring RailTerm, a Canadian
based transportation company that is a leading provider of rail services to
railroads and transit agencies. This acquisition signals Siemens Mobility’s
intent to grow its Canadian business. RailTerm’s familiarity across Canada’s
entire rail spectrum will allow Siemens Mobility to expand its existing
portfolio with on-the-ground track and signaling, electrification and
communication systems.

Siemens Mobility has received three new
certifications by Germany’s TÜV SÜD for meeting the international cybersecurity
standard IEC 62443. These new certifications cover products and solutions associated with the Rolling Stock and Rail
Infrastructure Business Units, including high-speed trains, regional trains,
metros, trams, and locomotives, as well as rolling stock components. They also apply
to first products installed in the critical infrastructure solutions. Together,
all these aspects represent the largest scope worldwide ever certified in
accordance with IEC 62443.

Siemens Mobility was awarded a 12-year Technical Support Spares Supply Agreement (TSSSA) contract by North County Transit District (NCTD) in San Diego, California for their fleet of Siemens Sprinter Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) vehicles. With a value of $80 million, the contract includes base services for the 12-year term with a 3-year option to be performed on a task order basis if executed. These Sprinter DMU vehicles have been in revenue service since 2008.

The National Authority for Tunnels, a governmental authority under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport of Egypt, and Siemens Mobility have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) - together with the local companies Orascom Construction S.A.E. and The Arab Contractors (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.) - to design, install and commission Egypt’s first ever high-speed rail transportation system. Additionally, Siemens Mobility will be providing maintenance services. The agreement comprises a rail system with a network of 1000km, with the first being a 460km high-speed line. The order value of this initial high-speed line is around 3bn$.

The world’s largest trade fair for transport technology – InnoTrans – will be held in Berlin from September 20 to 23. Siemens Mobility will showcase its products in hub 27, booth 230 and in the outdoor exhibition area.

Siemens Mobility has received an order for 1,200 locomotives
of 9,000 horsepower (HP) from Indian Railways, marking the single largest
locomotive order in the history of Siemens Mobility and single largest order in
the history of Siemens India. Siemens Mobility will design, manufacture,
commission and test the locomotives. Deliveries are planned over an eleven-year
period, and the contract includes 35 years of full service maintenance.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded a €270 million contract by Sporveien AS in Oslo, Norway to install and maintain a Communications-Based Train Control system (CBTC) on the Oslo Metro. Siemens Mobility will completely replace the current legacy signalling with its digitalized CBTC technology which will provide greater automation and connectivity, allowing for a more efficient and centralized control of operations. Specifically, the optimization and renewal of the complete 94 km network will increase the availability, safety, and capacity of the Oslo Metro, while also equipping it to meet the future demands for mobility and the need for any potential expansions or upgrades. As part of this contract, Siemens Mobility will design, integrate, test, and commission the system, while also providing digital maintenance and support services for the CBTC system for 25 years.
