Effective
March 1, 2024, Jörg Vocke (55) will become the new CEO of Siemens Real
Estate (SRE), the real estate company of Siemens. In this role, he will report
directly to Ralf P. Thomas, Chief Financial Officer and member of the
Managing Board of Siemens AG. As a corporate real estate manager, SRE is
responsible for Siemens’ global real estate portfolio and continuously drives
the further development of this portfolio in a sustainable, socially
responsible and value-oriented manner. SRE also plays a key role in Siemens’ €2
billion global investment strategy for getting production locations fit for the
future.

AWS IoT SiteWise Edgeis now available on the Siemens Industrial Edge Marketplace. From there,
customers can deploy it on Siemens Industrial Edge for centralized app and
device management and combine it with a variety of other apps and edge devices,
from Siemens and other vendors, to configure an IoT solution for their specific
challenges. AWS IoT SiteWise Edge is an on-premises software that is part of the Industrial
IoT services portfolio of Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) and can collect,
process, and monitor equipment data locally, even without an internet
connection.
Siemens will
exit the Russian market as a result of the Ukraine war. The company has started
proceedings to wind down its industrial operations and all industrial business activities.
The financial impact of this decision will be reported as part of the regular
disclosure on the second quarter results today on May 12, 2022.
- Orders rose 22 percent on a comparable basis to €21.0 billion (Q2 2021: €15.9 billion), with high growth rates at all industrial businesses
- At €17.0 billion, revenue increased 7 percent on a comparable basis (Q2 2021: €14.7 billion)
- Profit Industrial Business was €1.8 billion (Q2 2021: €2.0 billion) – due to impacts totaling €0.6 billion, mainly at Mobility, subsequent to sanctions imposed on Russia
- Net income was €1.2 billion (Q2 2021: €2.4 billion)
- Free cash flow for the Siemens Group increased to €1.3 billion and was thus even stronger than in the prior-year quarter (Q2 2021: €1.2 billion)
- Orderly wind down of industrial business activities initiated in order to exit the Russian market
Siemens continued
its growth path as a focused technology company also in Q2 (ended March 31,
2022). In Q2, the company leveraged increased growth opportunities in many key markets
despite a continuing complex macroeconomic environment and confirms its outlook
for the Siemens Group for the current fiscal year 2022. The impact on
profit in Q2 subsequent to sanctions imposed on Russia totaled €0.6 billion due
to impairments and other charges, mainly at Mobility. Siemens also initiated an orderly
wind down of its industrial business activities in order to exit the Russian
market.

Together
with its partners and customers, Siemens is driving the digital transformation
of economies through its open digital business platform Siemens Xcelerator,
launched on June 29, 2022. The platform consists of a comprehensive, curated
portfolio; a powerful ecosystem of partners and a marketplace for customers,
partners and developers and strives to make digitalization easier, faster and
at scale. Today, Siemens announced two new partnerships related to the Siemens
Xcelerator platform.

Siemens Mobility is investing approximately €150 million to expand its service depot in
Dortmund-Eving to 87,550 m² to meet the growing demand for rail services.
Plans call for constructing an additional 12,300 m² service hall
with storage facility, offices, and workshops to handle the maintenance of
trains up to 400 meters long. Construction
of the new building is scheduled to begin in 2024 and be completed by 2026. The
Siemens Mobility depot in Dortmund previously had a total area of
70,000 m² and will cover 157,550 m² when the project is
completed.

Siemens and Automotive Cells Company (ACC) have signed
a Memorandum of Understanding to join forces in a new strategic partnership. Under
the agreement, Siemens will become ACC’s preferred supplier in automation, digitalization,
and electrification technology, enabling ACC to scale-up its production,
maximizing plant and energy efficiency.

Siemens and Desert Technologies have
launched a joint venture to develop and invest in solar and smart infrastructure in Africa,
the Middle East and Asia, as
announced today at Expo 2020 Dubai. The venture, Capton Energy – which aims to build
up a portfolio of investments in projects with an aggregate capacity of more
than 1 gigawatts (GW) – will support projects providing clean, reliable, and affordable energy in areas that need it most.

Siemens Mobility and RATP (Régie
autonome des transports Parisiens) have successfully modernized and extended the
automated Line 14 of the Paris metro. This world premiere marks the first
migration of an automated driverless (GoA4 – Grade of Automation) metro line to
the latest generation GoA4 driverless automated system “Trainguard MT CBTC”. The
new system, which was implemented during the past six years during passenger
services, enables more efficient and reliable services on the line that has
doubled in length by 14 kilometers due to extensions to the North and South.
With a remarkable headway of 85 seconds along its entire 28 km route, Line 14
is now the longest line in the Paris network and will eventually accommodate
over one million passengers daily. The expansion enables passengers to travel
from Orly Airport to Paris city center in 20 minutes and from the northern business
districts in Saint-Denis Pleyel to Orly Airport in just 40 minutes. With its
improved capacity, reliability, and efficiency, Line 14 serves as the backbone
of Paris' public transportation system, connecting to the future Grand Paris
Express network. Over six years, more than 250 Siemens Mobility engineers
contributed to this project, with over 500,000 hours of engineering.

Siemens Digital Industries Software today
announced that its PAVE360-based solution for automotive digital twin is now
available on AWS. Expanding on the strong partnership between Siemens and AWS, PAVE360
helps foster innovation in the automotive industry through hardware and
software parallel development, “shifting-left" the design phase of SDV.
With a parallel approach, developers can compress the design cycle time and accelerate
time to market. In addition, Siemens has collaborated with Arm to help enable developers to access
Arm®-based technology
running on Siemens’ PAVE360 Digital Twin solution via AWS cloud services.
