Slovakian subsidiary of Siemens Mobility succeeds in entering the market for ETCS onboard unit systems in Slovakia and the Czech Republic

Siemens Mobility and the Slovak rail vehicle manufacturer ŽOS Vrútky are retrofitting up to 41 locomotives of the Czech railway company ČD Cargo a. s. with ETCS Level 2.  

The locomotives of the 130 series will be equipped with the Siemens Mobility ETCS solution Trainguard 200 Onboard Unit for trans-European freight operation across Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The retrofit project will cover the integration of the ETCS onboard unit equipment, as well as the interface solution to the existing national train control (NTC) systems. Interface solutions enable cost-optimized retrofitting of rail vehicles for smooth and safe cross-border operation.
