Uwe Troeger to strengthen Siemens’ industry, oil and gas businesses in Middle East

Siemens has appointed Uwe Troeger as Senior Executive Vice President of the company’s Process Industries and Drives (PD) and Digital Factory (DF) divisions in the Middle East, effective April 1, 2017. Troeger will also lead a global team within Siemens’ onshore oil and gas Process Solutions business, working on product development and management for the regional oil and gas market. Troeger takes over from Bernhard Niessing and Aumir Mohammed, and will be based in Dubai, UAE.
“Uwe Troeger will join our Middle East leadership team, bringing rich industry experience and strong customer focus,” said Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO, Siemens Middle East and UAE. “Troeger will be instrumental in supporting our customers in the region to utilize the potential of digitalization, strengthening our oil and gas position in the Middle East by combining his divisional roles with global headquarter responsibility in onshore oil and gas.”
Troeger’s career at Siemens spans 26 years with extensive international experience, beginning in Germany as a commissioning engineer, project manager and service manager before taking on a role in the UK as senior technical support engineer at Siemens ICN. Following a 10-year period in Asia including positions in Hong Kong, Singapore and China, in 2003 Troeger returned to the company’s headquarters in Germany as global head of department for Lifecycle Services. In 2006 he was appointed Global Service Manager for Siemens’ Industry Sector, Oil and Gas and in 2014 took on the role of CEO of the company’s Center of Competence for oil and gas for the Industry Sector. He was subsequently Head of Vertical for the Process Solutions business unit within onshore and offshore oil and gas.
Commenting on his appointment, Troeger said: “This is an exciting time for the region’s industrial landscape, with the Middle East perfectly positioned to develop a globally competitive industrial sector. Digital technology like the Internet of Things, the digital enterprise and 3D printing will be instrumental, and I’m looking forward to using our portfolio to open up new possibilities for the region’s industrial and oil and gas sectors.”
Troeger holds a combined degree in Communications and Data Technology from the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg, Germany.
