Siemens wins education award in UAE with engineering program for Emirati students

The Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program is an international, industry standard comprehensive skills certification in mechatronic systems offered together with partner schools worldwide.
In collaboration with ADPoly, Siemens launched the program in the UAE in 2012, with the aim of training Emirati students as mechatronics machine operators and technicians. There are currently 23 students enrolled on the program.
“We are delighted to be recognized for our efforts in bringing hands-on, practical training to UAE students,” said Dietmar Siersdorfer, Siemens UAE and Middle East. “Siemens is a world leader in mechatronic engineering and we are responsible for ensuring that our knowledge, experience and skills are used to develop local talent and educate future scientists and engineers here in the UAE.”
The Siemens program is fully integrated into the Mechatronics Engineering Technology Specialization of the Electromechanical Engineering Technology program at ADPoly, and runs for either three or four years depending on the qualification goals of the student.
“ADPoly strives to establish strong collaboration with strategic partners such as Siemens as a part of our strategic plan to bring the highest level of hands-on training to our Emirati students,” said Dr. Ahmad Alawar, Managing Director of IAT and ADPoly Director.
As part of a separate initiative in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education Development Center (VEDC), eight Emirati students recently started their on-the-job training assignments with Siemens. The eight-week program will provide the students with hands-on training at Siemens facilities and construction sites, focusing on electrical maintenance.
