Siemens eyes top talent at Qatar Career Fair, seeks to double local workforce

The number of job openings at Siemens in Qatar has risen steadily over the past few years, driven by the expansion of its sales, engineering, and services activities to keep pace with the accelerating domestic project market. Siemens now expects to double its workforce of almost 400 employees in the country within two years and is presently seeking local talent to fill a rising number of vacant positions, in particular in its Energy sector. Example careers available include Network Consultants, Project Engineers and Solution Designers/Architects, as well as Sales & Marketing positions. Candidates must have an engineering or specific technical background.
"As our business continues to be on a steep upward trajectory in Qatar, we want to hire, train and develop capable talent in Qatar, through participating in events such as this and providing extensive job training," said Martin á Porta, CEO, Siemens WLL, the Qatari unit of Siemens AG. "Siemens is committed to enhancing the development of Qatar's economy and the offer of skilled employment plays a key role in this".
With a long tradition of seeking out the best local talent, Siemens will be meeting with employment candidates and discussing job roles at the Career Fair, which is taking place at Qatar National Convention Center, organized by Qatar Foundation and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Heir Apparent of Qatar, from 01 April 2012 until 05 April 2012.
"Qatar's economy is growing at a rapid pace and undergoing a major transformation, which makes the development of local talent an issue of utmost importance," said Erich Kaeser, CEO of Siemens Middle East. "We believe that the key to success and sustainability – both for Siemens and for the Middle East – is to build on local resources and talent, which is why participating in events like this is absolutely essential for us."
With more than 99,000 job applications submitted for Siemens' regional business, compared with 67,000 a year ago, interest in the company as an employer is strong and increasing across the Middle East.
After conducting the official opening ceremony in Doha today, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Heir Apparent, toured the exhibition to meet and talk to company representatives and discuss career opportunities that are potentially available to Qataris. The Qatar Career Fair is open until 05 April 2012 from 9am to 9pm at the Qatar National Convention Center. Siemens can be found in the Energy & Industry Village, Gate 9, Stand E-S7.
