Siemens boosts reliability, efficiency with new systems and solutions for Qatar’s oil and gas industry

At a customer event held in Doha earlier this month, Siemens experts from Germany met with customers from Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas, Qatar Petrochemical Company, Qatar Chemical Company and Shell to present new systems and solutions such as Medium Voltage Slow Speed Vertical Sea Water Intake Pump Motors and Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Water Jacket Cooled Motors. The systems, which are new to the Middle East, are specifically tailor made for customer needs to help improve efficiency and reliability.
Siemens also introduced two new systems being launched globally, slow speed motors for the use with reciprocating compressors and variable speed drives in IP64 cabinet design for electrical submersible pumps. The drives have been designed specifically for extreme climate and environmental conditions such as the use in deserts.
With predictions that global demand for energy will increase dramatically in the next 30 years, many oil and gas companies will require more advanced technological solutions. Siemens has the portfolio of proven systems and service solutions to address those needs, now and in the future.
"Given the rapid growth that Qatar's industry sector is presently witnessing, introducing new systems and solutions like these motors and drives to our customers is a top priority for us. We have to be prepared and offer customized technology and after sales service to fit our clients' needs in this fast-growing market," said Martin á Porta, Siemens Qatar CEO.
"At Siemens, we believe in creating long-term relationships and doing so means investing our time and people. This is part of our commitment to develop the local expertise needed to help build and support Qatar's plans in the Industry sector for its National Vision 2030," he added.
