Siemens announced that the latest release of MindSphere, the company’s open cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) operating system, will be hosted for the first time on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The interwork between Siemens’ IoT cloud ‘MindSphere’ and cloud market No.1 ‘AWS’ will provide a higher added-value.
Under the partnership with AWS, Siemens will be able to realize faster application development with its partners, using Siemens’ global base of millions of installed devices and deliver a more effective digital service in collaboration with AWS. Also, the latest release of MindSphere hosted on AWS will provide the ability to develop robust industrial IoT solutions on a shorter timeline for customers across various industries, especially aerospace and defense as well as energy and utilities.
MindSphere is the open, cloud-based IoT operating system from Siemens, devel-oped based on the company’s long years of experience. MindSphere delivers not only a wide range of device and enterprise application connectivity protocol options, industry applications, and advanced analytics, but also an innovative development environment that utilizes both Siemens’ open Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) capabili-ties along with access to AWS cloud services. Based on these capabilities, MindSphere provides solutions that can lead manufacturing innovation by utilizing actual operational data and optimizing the engineering process in the real world and simulation in the virtual world. MindSphere provides an opportunity for companies to participate in digital transformation regardless of industry or size.
“We decided on the partnership with AWS to meet our customers’ demand for high availability and strong global service. Siemens customers and partners will now have easier access to one of the best Industrial IoT Application Programming Interfaces from Siemens, allowing faster application development,” said Mr. Steve Bashada, Executive Vice President of Siemens Cloud Application Services.
“Korea is considered as one of the key countries for cloud service, as it is home to many prominent global companies and equipped with the world’s best IT infrastruc-ture. MindSphere will provide Korean manufacturing companies in various industries a digital service that can secure them competitive advantages,” said Dieter Schletterer, Vice President of Digital Factory, and Process Industries & Drives Divi-sion at Siemens Ltd.
