Siemens Ltd. Seoul introduces ‘energy intelligent’ innovative technologies to lead Industrie 4.0 at BIXPO 2019

SLS will be exhibiting innovative technological products and solutions in the electric power and integrated energy management sectors that will lead the Industrie 4.0 era at the New Technology Exhibition. Major exhibits include ▲world’s first 170kV eco-friendly vacuum interrupter(VI) developed by Siemens, ▲world’s fastest medium-voltage outdoor vacuum circuit breaker, Fusesaver, ▲cloud-based integrated energy management application Energy IP powered on MindSphere, ▲cloud-based vir-tual protective relay(IED:Intelligent Electronic Device), SIPROTEC Digital Twin, ▲next-generation HL-class gas turbine SGT-9000HL with industry’s highest perfor-mance, ▲450MW eco-friendly Vacuum Type Generator Switchgear, ▲digital solutions for power plant efficiency improvement, and ▲Power Monitoring System for maximized cost saving and energy efficiency.
The world’s first 170kV eco-friendly VI, which will be showcased during the exhibition, is a core component of eco-friendly gas insulated switchgears(GIS). The existing GIS is filled with Sulfur Hexafluoride(SF6), which has a higher global warming potential than carbon dioxide. However, by applying the latest Siemens technology, the emission of any greenhouse gases from GIS will be completely avoided. Fusesaver, the world’s fastest medium-voltage outdoor vacuum circuit-breaker will also be showcased. This technology has the advantage of preventing fuse cuts in advance to reduce power failure, minimizing the operating cost of voltage networks.
SLS is also exhibiting new intelligent infrastructure energy management systems operated on the cloud-based open IoT operating system MindSphere. Energy IP po-wered on MindSphere improves operation and management of distributed energy and energy asset management by providing real time collection of millions of data and big data management with analysis features. SIPROTEC Digital Twin which will also be exhibited, supports system and IED configuration in the initial design stage of a project through operator training in the later O&M(operatng and maintnence) stage by enabling communication tests connecting on site power monitoring system with cloud-based virtual protective relay (IED).
“With the highest urbanization rate among OECD countries at 92%, Korea is facing a consistent increase in the growth potential of smart infrastructure related markets, including smart city,” said Mr. HaJoong Chung, Head of Siemens Korea Smart Infra-structure. “Cloud-based integrated energy management solutions, intelligent buildings and smart infrastructure systems integrate the quintessential technologies of Indus-trie 4.0. With these, SLS will lead the industry through maximization of cost savings and energy efficiency.
The next generation HL-class gas turbine SGT-9000HL and digital solutions for power plant efficiency improvement will also be showcased. Boasting high generating efficiency and reliability, HL-class is an eco-friendly gas turbine using natural gas as main fuel. It is a key facility for combined cycle power plants and is already being constructed in Korea.
"We are confident that maximization of generating efficiency and profitability can be achieved with the highly efficient HL-class gas turbine aligned with the government policy,” said Mr. BumJun Suk, Vice President of Siemens Korea Gas and Power. “With the development of digital solutions, Gas and Power at SLS will continue its efforts to drive mutual growth and exchange with domestic businesses that have outstanding industrial infrastructures.”
At 10 am on November 7, the Trasmission Products Business Unit of Siemens Korea Gas & Power will present the status of Siemens eco-friendly switchgear technology development in the 'Announcement of new electric power transmission and transformation equipment development and presentation of technical specification modification' conference hosted by Grid Planning Department of Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) at Kimdaejung Convention Center room 212-213.
BIXPO 2019 will consist of the New Technology Exhibition, International Conference, and International Invention Fair, conducted simultaneously with more than 290 local and international companies participating. The SLS booth will be located at D05 in Exhibition Hall 1 on the first floor of the Kimdaejung Convention Center, Gwangju.
