Siemens Ltd. Seoul to introduce latest technologies to lead the age of digitalization in the energy sector at BIXPO 2017

SLS will be exhibiting excellent products and solutions in the electric power, gas, and energy service sectors at the New Power Technology Exhibition within the New Technology Exhibition. Its major exhibits include ▲eco-friendly gas insulated switchgear (GIS) ▲high-voltage direct current transmission system (HVDC) ▲gas insulated transmission line (GIL) ▲cloud-based, open IoT operating system MindSphere ▲latest next-generation HL-class gas turbine SGT-9000HL and ▲digital solutions for improving power plant efficiency.
The SF6 Free eco-friendly GIS, which will be showcased during this exhibition, will play a pivotal role in the future electric power industry. It is a device that is installed at power plants and substations to protect the electric power system by shutting off excessive fault current in case of malfunction. GIL, with excellent stability in terms of fire hazard and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and HVDC system with the world’s leading technology and performance will also be key components for the electric power industry.
The latest next-generation HL-class gas turbine SGT-9000HL will be showcased during this exhibition. With the highest generating efficiency and stability, the HL-class gas turbine is a key facility for combined cycle power plants, using natural gas as its main fuel. It is expected to maximize profitability through eco-friendly power generation, high generating efficiency and operational flexbility. "With the launch of the next-generation HL-class gas turbine, we will be able to measure up to our customers‘ expectations on performance and business value," said Mr. BumJun Suk, Vice President of the Power and Gas Division at SLS. He added, "As there is high interest in natural gas power generation at present, this most timely launch alongside digital generation solutions will contribute towards maximizing its impact."
"Over the last 170 years, Siemens has provided efficient and reliable products and solutions that meet the demand of electric power industries. Nowadays, technical development is gaining momentum with digitalization. At the Siemens booth, one can learn about the technology trends to be adopted for a quick response to Industrie 4.0, as well as the direction for convergence," said Mr. HaJoong Chung, Vice President of Energy Management Division at SLS. BIXPO 2017 will consist of the New Technology Exhibition, International Invention Fair, and International Conference happening simultaneously, with more than 250 local and international companies participating. The SLS booth will be located at D20 in Exhibition Hall 1 located on the first floor of the Kimdaejung Convention Center, Gwangju.
Furthermore, on the first day of the event, November 1, KEPCO and Siemens AG will sign an MOU for cooperative research in wide power grid monitoring and stability improvement. Executives and staff from both parties will be attending the ceremony, including Mr. DongSup Kim, Chief Technology Officer of KEPCO, Mr. YongBum Yoon, Head of the Power Tranmission Laboratory at KEPRI, Mr. Ingo Erkens, Head of Energy Automation Product Business Unit at Siemens AG, and Mr. HaJoong Chung, Vice President of Energy Management Division at SLS. The MOU will provide the basis for application of KEPCO’s power grid data to the latest technologies from Siemens, thereby contributing towards the improvement in solutions through demonstrations, and improvement in power grid stability.
