Siemens
Korea (Siemens Ltd. Seoul · SLS) calls for participants until September 1 for
the ‘8th Smart NC(Numerical Control) Contest’ officially held on September 2.
The Smart
NC Contest, which marks its 8th year, is an event hosted by Digital Industries (DI)
at Siemens Korea with the aim of discovering and nurturing future technological
talents since 2014. This year, the entire one-week event will be hosted
virtually from September 2 to 9 to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The contest
will provide participating students with various video products and content
related to machine tools for a more vivid experience in 3D-based virtual space.
The Smart
NC Contest performs tests of programming skills to decide how a machine tool
processes materials. Contestants are required to submit a simulation shape
based on proposed drawings within a given amount of time. The tests will
evaluate the cycle time prediction on how many steps a product would have to go
through by using Siemens SINUMERIK CNC system’s milling and turning simulation
program. Hundreds of students compete in the contest each year.
The
contest is composed of university and high school groups. Awards including the
Ministry of Employment and Labor Prize, which is equivalent to the highest
honor, the International Vocational Skill Olympic Chairman Prize, the Grand
Prize, the Excellence Prize, and the Leadership Prize in addition to a monetary
prize totaling KRW 11 million will be presented to students with outstanding
performances.
Application
for the 8th Smart NC Contest is available on the Digital Industries‘ website (www.industry.siemens.co.kr) until September 1. It is
open to anyone currently enrolled in high school or university. Further
information on the contest is available on the following website, Instagram,
and KakaoTalk PlusFriend page.
