Thomas Schmid, Head of Digital
Industries at Siemens Korea, HoYoung Lee, President of Changwon National
University, and officials from both parties attended the ceremony held in
Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. According to the agreement, the two parties will closely
cooperate in sharing knowledge, workforce and materials; supporting on-site practical
training to cultivate skilled human resources; cooperating in R&D and curriculum
development; and exchanging information to create job opportunities.

excellence, innovation and internationality Siemens Digital Industries is a
global leader in the fields of industrial automation and digitalization. The company
provides integrated solutions for product design and simulation, product
planning, engineering, manufacturing operation and maintenance for a smart
manufacturing environment in Industry 4.0. Under this agreement, Digital Industries
at Siemens Korea intends to effectively provide the core technologies of the 4th
industrial revolution and contribute to fostering field-oriented professionals.
Changwon National University’s Industry-University
Cooperation Foundation focuses on supporting collaborations among researchers,
industry, and universities. The foundation also takes the lead in driving the
local economy and upgrading the Changwon National Industrial Complex, the mecca
of the Korean machinery industry.

Siemens will introduce our Digital Enterprise solutions and offer on-site practical
training to students, helping them to be perfectly qualified for the area of 4th
industrial revolution,” said Thomas Schmid, Head of Digital Industries at Siemens
Korea. He added, “We hope that the agreement, which is intended to strengthen
the talent pool of the southern region, will serve as a foundation for further industry-academic
cooperation activities.”
HoYoung Lee, President of Changwon
National University, said, “Changwon National University expects that this MOU
will be an opportunity for Changwon University’s students to grow up as competitive
professionals for digitalization era.” He added, “In particular, we have a high
expectation in fostering experts in the fields of automation and digitalization
in manufacturing with exchange of practical cooperation.”
