‘The NANUM’ volunteers of Siemens Ltd. Seoul deliver charcoal briquettes to needy neighbors for the 6th straight year

About 50 employees from the company’s ‘The NANUM’ volunteer corps delivered a contribution of KRW 10 million, amounting to 14,286 briquettes, to Seoul Yeontan Bank. In spite of the cold weather, the volunteers handed out home-heating charcoal briquettes door to door for National Basic Livelihood Security recipient families, the elderly living alone, elderly couples, and lower income families. Since 2013, SLS employees consistently have volunteered to deliver approximate 110,000 charcoal briquettes in total over the past six years and made donations of KRW 60 million to date.
“SLS employees put our corporate culture of sharing and loving into action, participating in voluntary donations and CSR programs every year,” said JongKap Kim, Chairman and CEO of Siemens Ltd. Seoul. “We hope this briquette delivery will support needy neighbors in enduring the severe cold wave and the following spring cold snap.”
The NANUM was launched in 2013 to encourage all SLS employees to take a part in volunteer activities at least once a year. About 1,400 employees have participated in various activities so far. The group has conducted a total of 52 volunteer activities such as handing out charcoal briquettes, cleaning up the Han River Park, serving meals to the needy and more, including 26 times from the head office in Seoul and 26 times from local regional offices.
