'Siemens Green School' was held on July 19 at SinSun Elementary School in Jung-gu, Incheon with participation of 100 5th grade elementary school students. Approximately 50 participants including Siemens employee volunteers, instructors, and college student supporters conducted environment and science educational program.
Three main programs aiming to inform students about on-going environmental issues, let students know how to maintain planet Earth as a sustainable place, were conducted under the topic of 'Getting Closer to Energy', 'Learning about Energy' and 'Making Commitments'. Work-books that support students to understand the program better and record on what they have learned, were also provided. Students payed great attention and actively discussed about reducing carbon foorprint while a video clip about carbon dioxide emission was played.
Meanwhile, this year marked the sixth year of 'Siemens Green School', and it became one of the representative science educational citizenship programs in Korea. ‘The 6th Siemens Green School Olympiad’ will be held on August 7 at Seoul National University Global Convention Plaza as an environmental-science competition, with 80 elementary school students who participated in the program from February to July this year.
