PS Division at SLS signs MOU with KT for Construction of ICT-based ‘Future Smart Power Plant’

Power Generation Services of Siemens Ltd. Seoul (SLS) signed an MOU with KT on May 16 at Seoul Square Building, Jung-gu, Seoul with the purpose of agreeing on business cooperation in “ICT-based Smart Power Plant Business”. Both SLS and KT will be cooperating for joint action to lead Smart Power Plant business. Details of the cooperation include local smart power plant business development and demonstration project cooperation, wireless network (LTE/IoT) construction and smart sensing and control of generating unit, discovery and expansion of artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), drones, and mobile-based smart service specialized for power plants. KT has been constructing secured industry focused LTE to enterprises and public organizations.

Moreover, KT possesses various ICT capabilities that can be applied to the smart power plant, which could be combined with Power Generation Services of SLS and maximize the synergy. “The smart power generation industry is expected to be an essential foothold for the construction of cutting-edge smart cities in Korea. SLS will contribute to this partnership based on its know-how accumulated through administration of power generating units and service networks globally,” said Mr. BumJun Suk, Vice President of Power Generation Services Division at SLS. Mr. SangHyun Han, Head of Public Customer Division at KT also stated, “Both companies will lead domestic smart power plant business through the cooperation”. “Currently, business environment of the power plant is based on offline, with the wireless infrastructure and ICT capability of KT, it will be transferred into an intelligent and mobile-based field”.
