‘Siemens Green School’ was held on March 29th at JungHeung Elementary School in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do with participation of 150 6th grade elementary school students. Approximately 50 participants including Siemens employee volunteers, instructors, and college student supporters conducted environment and science educational program.
Three main programs aiming to inform students about on-going environmental issues and to let students know, how to maintain planet Earth as a sustainable place, were conducted under the topic of ‘Getting Closer to Energy’, ‘Learning about Energy’ and ‘Making Commitments’. Work-books that support students to understand the program better and record on what they have learned, were provided. Also, a video clip about carbon footprint was played to attract interest of students towards reducing carbon footprint.
Meanwhile, this year marked the sixth year of ‘Siemens Green School’, and it became one of the representative educational citizenship programs in Korea. The Siemens Green School will continue towards local students by visiting elementary schools on a monthly basis and the next ‘Siemens Green School’ will be held on April 19th at Suri Elementary School in Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do.
