Siemens to supply steam turbine for biomass power plant in Hirohata

The scope of supply includes a steam turbine of approximately 75 MW power output, condenser, generator and turbine controls. The equipment will be installed at biomass power plant which Hirohata Biomass Power Generation Co., Ltd. drives to develop in Hirohata, Himeji city, Hyogo, Japan. The commercial operation of the project is planned for 2023.
Biomass plants are on the increase in Japan while promotional measures are undertaken to further accelerate the introduction and expansion of renewable energy to realize low carbon society. Siemens positions steam turbine for biomass plant as one of the energy business strategies in Japan and attempts to expand the sales.
