Siemens to supply steam turbine for biomass power plant in Ishinomaki

Siemens K.K. (Siemens K.K., Shinagawa, Tokyo President and CEO: Kenichi Fujita, hereinafter referred to as Siemens) received an order from JGC JAPAN Corporation for a steam turbine and related products for a biomass power plant in Japan.
The scope of supply includes a steam turbine of 74,950 kW power output, generator and turbine controls. The equipment will be installed at biomass power plant of Ishinomaki Hibarino Biomass Energy G.K. in Ishinomaki, Miyagi, Japan. The commercial operation of the plant is planned for 2023.
Biomass plants gain importance in Japan while promotional measures are undertaken to further accelerate the introduction and expansion of renewable energy to realize low carbon society. Siemens positions steam turbine for biomass plant as one of the energy business strategies in Japan and attempts to expand the sales.
