Siemens to power cities across Uttar Pradesh through state-of-the-art Energy Management System

In a milestone development for the state of Uttar Pradesh, Honorable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Akhilesh Yadav inaugurated the State Load Dispatch Center (SLDC) of Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) at Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. UPPTCL is the transmission utility of the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Limited, said, "Siemens is delighted to partner with Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited in their initiative to modernize energy management systems. The state of the art SCADA/EMS system by Siemens will enable UPPTCL to deliver true value to their consumers by providing uninterrupted, high quality of power while ensuring sustained protection of the environment."

Siemens has implemented SCADA/EMS (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/ Energy Management System) at the SLDC, which is another step in modernizing the electrical network of state of Uttar Pradesh. With this latest enhancement to the nation’s grid modernization, Siemens Limited further strengthened its leadership position in Smart Grid Solutions.
As a part of the project, Siemens has established the SLDC in Lucknow and five sub-SLDCs across different towns of Uttar Pradesh for UPPTCL. The system implemented caters to monitoring of the transmission grid of Uttar Pradesh covering over 150 substations, state owned power generation plants, IPPs and caters to about 12000 MW of the energy demand.
Siemens has implemented the state-of-the-art SCADA/EMS system for control and monitoring of the Northern Regional Grid under the Unified Load Despatch Centers scheme of POWERGRID. The system is built around Siemens’ innovative hardware and software solution Spectrum Power 7 Control Center Platform. This system provides tools for the advanced monitoring, security assessment and operational improvement of a very large and complex electrical transmission network. The expanse of the system covers 12 SCADA/EMS Control centers across 9 transmission utilities of India’s largest Northern Regional Power Transmission Grid covering approximately 30% of the area and serving 28% of the country’s population.
Siemens has a wide range of Smart Grid Solutions and Services for power utilities including SCADA/EMS/DMS/OMS, Meter Data Management Systems, Asset Life Cycle Management solutions etc., which help the utilities in managing their electricity grid efficiently.
