Siemens Launches “Smart Buildings” Experience & Training Centre in India

What makes a building smart? You probably might have been in a smart building or read / heard a lot about them, but have you experienced the underlying smart technologies first-hand? Most probably not. To offer exactly such experience to its customers, Siemens has setup a “Smart Building” experience centre at its Kalwa campus in Navi Mumbai.
Drawing into Siemens’ vast experience in creating smart buildings globally and in India, the centre is designed to showcase technologies that make buildings safe, secure, comfortable and energyefficient. Some of the systems that can be experienced include Integrated Building Management Systems (IBMS), Fire Detection and Suppression, Access Control, and Intelligent Video Surveillance with analytics. Flexible and interactive design of the centre allows for exhibiting live-systems independently or as part of a totally integrated system. Moreover, any customer specific scenarios can be simulated live to demonstrate functioning of the systems in response to various potential triggers at customer’s premises.
The centre also has a dedicated training facility, offering courses on smart building technologies for customers, partners, students and own employees. Running throughout the year, the training centre offers courses with varying degrees of expertise – i.e. basic classroom-based to advanced hands-on courses – on various technologies. The centre has dedicated panel of certified instructors, and is also fully equipped with training kits of various systems. Trainings customized for specific requirements of customers are also offered by the centre.
The “Smart Buildings” experience and training centre was inaugurated by global management
team of Siemens Building Technologies division: Mr. Matthias Rebellius, division CEO, and Mr. Axel Meier, division CFO. They were joined by key management members from Middle East / Asia-Pacific region: Mr. Elangovan Karuppiah and Mr. Wolfgang Eger. The event was hosted by division management in India: Mr. Devidas Kulkarni and Mr. Mukesh Vig.
On the occasion of the launch, Mr. Devidas Kulkarni, VP and Division CEO, Building Technologies division, Siemens Ltd. said “Siemens Building Technologies (BT) division is a leading technology partner for creating safe, secure, comfortable and energy efficient buildings and infrastructure. The main objective of the centre is to showcase our globally benchmarked solutions and capabilities for the Indian market, as well as to train and develop technically competent resources to manage these systems.”
“We take great pride partnering India in its infrastructure growth. We have grown our business from Indian customers across various vertical markets” said Mr. Matthias Rebellius. “I’m confident that the new centre will bring us closer to our customers, and elevate awareness of the technologies that make buildings and infrastructure safe, secure, comfortable and energy-efficient.”
