ERMA FIRST is an award-winning Greek
company specializing in Ballast Water Management Systems (BWTS) and has great
presence in several large foreign markets (such as the Netherlands, China, Korea
and Japan), in some of the most rigorous test facilities in the world.
Recently, the company added oneTANK, the smallest ballast water management
system in the world, to its product range. The system can be installed in the
ballast tanks of larger vessels, in work vessels, tugs, semi-submarines, fishing
vessels and super yachts.
As part of the partnership, which
concerns oneTANK, Siemens will help ERMA FIRST meet challenges such as managing
global competition, energy and costs, project diversity, use of equipment,
prompt response and support for problem solving as well as fast growth cycles. These
needs will be met by a complete system of integrated solutions, consisting of
equipment and software certified for use in shipping. More specifically,
Siemens solutions will offer high control reliability, ease of programming and
fault diagnosis process, optimized system performance and better complexity
management.

Siemens will provide equipment and spare parts to any
geographical location of the ship in need. The reliable Siemens control system
consists of a SIMATIC controller, a device that adapts to any activity that
requires high control reliability, ease of programming and fault diagnosis
process. [1] The
control system also includes a SIMI SIMATIC display with touch function (Touch
Operation). [2]
Siemens will also supply thermal overload relays and
buttons of the Sirius and SiriusAct family, known for their high reliability
and suitability for shipping applications. With regards to programming of both
devices, a TIA Portal platform will facilitate and accelerate the engineering
while allowing for future extensions, simulation functions, service,
diagnostics, etc.
Siemens’ team in
Greece will employ its rich
experience in the digitization of industries to support
and guide ERMA FIRST technicians.
