Siemens Mobility CEO Dimos Sapidis at ITC 2023 - 6th Infrastructure & Transport Conference

Dimos Sapidis, CEO
of Siemens Mobility S.A. & Head of Smart Infrastructure, Siemens S.A., participated
in a panel discussion on “The modern trends of urban and peri-urban mobility “,
at the 6th Infrastructure & Transport Conference which took
place on Tuesday 19 September, at the Athens Conservatoire. Mr. Sapidis described
urban and peri-urban transport as a viable option to address climate change and
highlighted Mobility as a Service (MaaS), as a pillar of digital tools that
contribute to the empowerment of sustainability in our country.
As Mr. Sapidis pointed out, Siemens Mobility’s goal is to develop Mobility as a Service (MaaS), or mobility as a service using digital tools. The company is focused on developing leading mobility services, leveraging a wide range of tools and software in its portfolio to enable intelligent smart trip planning, seamless integration of ticketing and reservations, and big data analytics in easy-to-use and secure MaaS applications.
“MaaS solutions contribute to the use of sustainable and multimodal mobility systems by citizens, providing them with digital solutions readily available on their mobile phones for the optimal planning of their journeys”, said Mr. Sapidis. He also referred to the “smart route” that is being digitally planned, using in the first phase the existing route through the single electronic ticket available in regions of the country. “We believe that we are very close to this development as we can build on the existing urban transport infrastructure and gradually build MaaS applications that will improve the passenger experience.” As he mentioned, Siemens Mobility has more than 250 applications that can be gradually utilised in this project.
Finally, Mr. Sapidis addressed the issue of raising citizens’ awareness of sustainability issues, urging them to use digital applications, that will allow them to calculate their environmental footprint based on the selected route.
