Siemens offers arc fault protection for Sivacon S8 switchboard

Andreas Matthé, CEO Siemens Low Voltage & Products and Dr. Philipp Dehn, CEO DEHN+SÖHNE

With the DEHNshort system for low-voltage power distribution boards, panels can now be expanded with a reliable arc fault protection system. The system consists of a modular detection system, including current detection and point sensors or fiber-optic sensors capable of detecting arc faults as they occur, as well as a quenching device, which quickly and safely extinguishes the electric arcs.
The technology partners now have the opportunity to integrate this system into the switchboards. Dehn + Söhne trains the technology partners in the installation of the system and supports them during their initial project with the configuration and subsequent acceptance. Sivacon Technology Partners thus receive standard-compliant switchgear assemblies and are able to further enhance the availability and safety of the panels with the new arc fault protection system.
"The cooperation with Dehn + Söhne is an additional building block in our partner program", says Andreas Matthé, CEO of Siemens Business Unit Low Voltage & Products. "Our concept is designed to support panel builders throughout their entire value-added process: with reliable technology, professional planning and configuring tools, along with training and services. Dehn is a leading player in arc fault protection, making it the ideal partner in the expansion of our range for Technology Partners."
"Switchgear manufacturers bear the responsibility for the safety of electrical power distribution", says Philipp Dehn, CEO of Dehn + Söhne. "It is all the more important for them to have systems they can totally depend on. With Siemens switchboards, combined with our arc fault protection system, they are on the safe side: Faults are immediately detected, damage and accidents are reliably prevented."
With the Sivacon S8, Siemens offers certified technology partners a controlgear assembly with design verification according to IEC 61439. It is equipped for power distribution up to 7000 amps (A) and, thanks to the modular function block design, can be flexibly tailored to individual requirements.
More than 380,000 switchboards have already been built and installed by Sivacon Technology Partners.
