Siemens introduces next generation of Sinamics G drives
The new Sinamics G series creates a seamless platform for continuous-motion applications
The new generation is built
around three core principles: Security by Design, integrated safety functions
and digitalization for greater transparency and intelligent maintenance
management.
With its scalable and seamless drive platform, Siemens enables machine builders to standardize automation solutions more easily while preparing for future requirements. Cybersecurity has been an integral part of the development from the outset. All new generation drives will be made EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA)-ready and provide integrated cybersecurity capabilities up to Security Level Capability 2 (SL-C 2) as defined in IEC 62443-4-2.
Integrated safety functions
up to Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3) provide a high level of functional safety
for the protection of people, machines and plants. At the same time, the new
generation combines digital integration with ease of use. Seamless integration
into the TIA Portal, an integrated web server and a unified engineering and
operating concept simplify selection, engineering, commissioning, diagnostics
and service. Users benefit from shorter engineering times, reduced training
requirements and faster standardization across different machine platforms.
Through the Ethernet-based OPC UA communication standard, drive and operational
data can be utilized efficiently for asset and energy management, condition
monitoring and predictive maintenance applications.
With the newly introduced
Sinamics G200, G210C, G210 and G210X, Siemens completes the next generation of
its Sinamics G portfolio around the flexible high-end drive Sinamics G220,
first introduced in 2023. The Sinamics G200 addresses general-purpose industrial
applications, while the Sinamics G210C has been specifically designed for
compact machines with high requirements for power density and overload
capability. As a versatile general-purpose drive, the Sinamics G210 covers a
broad range of moving, positioning and processing applications. The Sinamics
G210X extends this flexibility with dedicated functions for pump, fan,
compressor and other infrastructure applications. Together, these drives form a
unified and scalable portfolio for continuous-motion applications based on a
common technology platform.
