Siemens expands rail service network with first Rail Service Center in Poland
Siemens Mobility is expanding its European rail service
network with the construction of a new state-of-the-art Rail Service Center in
Gądki near Poznań, Poland. The new depot is scheduled to open in 2027
and will provide comprehensive maintenance services for locomotives operating
in Poland and across Central and Eastern Europe. The new 4,300-square-meter
facility will accommodate up to seven locomotives simultaneously and will
include around five kilometers of electrified tracks, cutting-edge maintenance
equipment, including an underfloor wheel lathe and a dropping table, as well as
a dedicated testing area. Service operations will be based on Railigent X,
Siemens Mobility’s suite for applications and services, helping to optimize
maintenance processes and maximize fleet availability. The new depot in Poland will become an integral part of
Siemens Mobility’s European service network for locomotives and
further strengthens its global service footprint.
“With our first Rail Service Center in Poland, we are
expanding our service network in a strategically important European rail market,
to provide best-in-class service based on the latest technologies. With more
than 130 service locations in over 30 countries, we combine global
expertise with local presence to support our customers and help ensure up to
100% fleet availability. This investment further strengthens our service
capabilities, enabling us to provide reliable support throughout the entire
lifecycle while creating the foundation for the further development
of our service business in Europe,” said Elmar Zeiler, CEO Customer
Services at Siemens Mobility.
Expanding Siemens Mobility’s global service network
Siemens
Mobility operates one of the rail industry’s largest global service networks.
The network supports customers throughout the lifecycle of their rail systems,
with the goal of maximizing fleet availability and operational efficiency. As
an integral part of the network, the new Rail Service Center in Poland will
expand maintenance capabilities across Central and Eastern Europe and provide
customers with faster and more flexible access to service capacities. The facility will offer both light
and heavy maintenance and cover a broad range of activities, from scheduled
inspections and maintenance of safety systems to major overhauls,
modifications, accident repairs and mobile service. Sustainability is also a key element of the new facility, which is planned to
operate carbon neutrally.
Building on strong service expertise in Poland
Siemens
Mobility already has more than 15 years of experience in locomotive maintenance
in Poland. Today, a team of more than 60 specialists supports several hundred
locomotives annually, including Vectron, Taurus and BR189-F4 vehicles. Maintenance activities are supported by
digital solutions including Railigent X, Siemens Mobility’s digital platform for rail asset
management, as well as digital tools for fleet and spare-parts management.
Siemens Mobility has also been ECM-certified in Poland since 2021, providing
the framework for maintenance management, engineering support and fleet
management. The new Rail Service Center will consolidate and expand these
existing capabilities, while increasing the range and capacity of services that
can be performed locally.
Local partnerships support long-term growth
The
development of the new Rail Service Center is supported by local and regional
partners,
including Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship,
together with the Municipality of Kórnik and the Zakłady Kórnickie Foundation.
The investment is intended to strengthen local rail
expertise, support the development of multi-system locomotive maintenance
capabilities and contribute to the continued growth of sustainable rail
transport in Poland and across Central and Eastern Europe.
