Siemens Mobility to relocate its Berlin Treptow branch to the Adlershof science and technology park

For its part, Siemens believes that the move from Berlin Treptow to Adlershof further underscores its commitment to Berlin, this in addition to the Siemensstadt Square project in Spandau. Siemens Mobility has been established in Adlershof for over 25 years now with a development department and around 150 employees. This department will now be integrated in the new Adlershof building, so that in future, some 1,200 employees will be working at the new Berlin branch in the immediate vicinity of various innovative high-tech companies and scientific institutions. The new building will provide around 15,000 m² of office, conference and networking space, as well as areas for production and storage totaling more than 15,000 m².
Governing Mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey:
“Siemens Mobility develops and manufactures products in Berlin for sustainable mobility in global rail operations. The relocation of the workforce to Adlershof shows that this is an attractive location for innovation, and that products “made in Berlin” are competitive on the international stage. With enterprises such as Berlin Space Technologies and the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin in the immediate vicinity, Siemens Mobility is certainly in excellent company. Berlin is already well-positioned in the field of digital rail. Siemens Mobility’s move to Adlershof is a milestone for Berlin as a location for further forward-looking technologies.”
“I’m pleased that Siemens Mobility is remaining loyal to our district with its new building at Adlershof science and technology park. This investment in the future of the company is also a valuable investment in our region. Siemens Mobility is a modern employer and technology company, and we would like to extend a warm welcome to them,” says Oliver Igel, Mayor of the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick.
“We’re giving the thumbs-up to Berlin Adlershof by investing a double-digit million sum in our future at this location,” says Eva Scherer, CFO of Siemens Mobility’s Rail Infrastructure division. “This strategic decision is based not least on the business prospects offered by Germany’s major Digital Rail infrastructure project. The new building will give us the ideal conditions in which to develop and produce the innovative rail technology required to digitalize rail both in Germany and around the globe. Our employees can look forward to exciting projects in a modern working environment.”
“Knowledge-based industry continues to grow at the Adlershof science and technology park. We were delighted to hear of Siemens Mobility’s commitment to the location and look forward to exploiting the synergies the relocation will bring,” says Roland Sillmann, Managing Director of WISTA Management GmbH, which develops and operates Adlershof science and technology park. “That Siemens Mobility can now forge ahead with its plans to open a new branch in Adlershof is thanks in no small part to the excellent cooperation between the Senate Department for Urban Development, the Senate Department for Economics, the Treptow-Köpenick district office, the project developer, and our subsidiary WISTA.Plan. I’d like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and commitment.”
“Siemens Mobility has been a long-term tenant in one of our properties, and we look forward to joining the company on its journey into the future. Once again, this confirms that our existing host culture and the excellent spirit of cooperation between all stakeholders engender trust, while also laying the foundations on which to find fitting long-term solutions for all involved. The new building at Adlershof science and technology park will enable us to create working worlds of tomorrow in which innovation and tradition will play an equal part,” affirms Jan Plückhahn, member of the Executive Board of BEOS AG.
