Siemens beefs up collaboration with suppliers
"Innovations are team-based achievements. And that applies not just to Siemens, but also includes our suppliers," said Siegfried Russwurm, a member of Siemens AG's Managing Board, and CEO of the Industry Sector. "With the "Supplier Innovation Day" we are creating a forum for even closer cooperation with our most innovative suppliers."
Here, Supply Chain Management is set to play an even greater role in future. "Siemens Procurement can do far more than just buy material at the lowest price," stated Klaus Staubitzer, Head of Corporate Supply Chain Management. "With our global network of suppliers we make a valuable contribution to Siemens capacity to innovate, by bringing particularly progressive suppliers together with our colleagues from Corporate Technology, and integrating them into the early phases of the product development process," according to Staubitzer.
An exhibition space of around 500 square meters, including a forum, is available for presentations and discussions. Amazon Web Services, BASF and EOS, for example, will be showcasing their developments in the fields of Smart Data, Metal-to-Plastics and 3D-Printing. Visitors can rate the innovations on show, and the progress of the most promising ideas is then jointly tracked.
