VAG
Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft orders 14 more Avenio trams for Nuremberg, setting
the course for a transition in mobility. The stated goal is to strengthen
public transport in the Franconian metropolis. To this end, over the next few years,
the frequency of service will be increased, new lines will be built, and new
services will be created for Nuremberg's passengers.
After the initial
order for 12 vehicles in 2019, VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft took the option
included in the contract and is expanding the fleet to a total of 26 trams.
Since November, the first Avenio Nuremberg has been completing the necessary
test runs at the Siemens Mobility Test Center in Wegberg-Wildenrath. Passenger
service is scheduled to start in summer 2022.
