Siemens and GIZ join forces to defossilize industry and decarbonize Brazil’s economy

The initiative takes place on the eve of COP30, which will be held in Belém (PA), from November 10 to 21, and reinforces Brazil’s role as a global leader in the climate agenda. Siemens and GIZ already work together across various technology and sustainability areas. The purpose of the signing is to strengthen this strategic partnership, focusing on developing joint solutions for decarbonizing the economy, using natural resources more efficiently, and expanding clean energy sources — connecting technological innovation with international cooperation.
The memorandum focuses on strategic areas for ecological transition, such as the advancement of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), the use of green hydrogen (H₂V), green steel, and sustainable data centers, as well as the promotion of green artificial intelligence and responsible technological and digital training. It also includes studies and actions directed at industrial defossilization, the exploration of critical minerals for the energy transition, and supply chain traceability — including agribusiness.
Among the agreement’s commitments are the development of innovative pilot projects focused on technical and commercial feasibility, and the mapping of opportunities to replace fossil sources with clean and sustainable alternatives. Technical missions and workshops are also planned to promote knowledge exchange, strengthen collaborative networks, and identify synergies between public and private initiatives.
Journey for Climate Action also establishes a collaborative governance structure to ensure the implementation and monitoring of initiatives, promoting a sustainable development model based on innovation, efficiency, and social impact. With this initiative, Siemens and GIZ reaffirm their commitment to the energy transition and Brazil’s sustainable future, aligning with global goals for decarbonization and combating climate change.
