“Let’s imagine the future together”: Unleashing Rwanda’s potential to accelerate business growth and enhance competences and skills

Vision 2050 is a blueprint for improved living standards and quality affordable services for all in health, education, finance, housing, energy and infrastructure. The plan was launched in 2016 and is today the basis for a growing, rebounding economy.
As a global technology leader, Siemens has distinguished itself for 170 years by its pioneering spirit, innovation, quality and reliability of its products, solutions and services and international presence. Siemens wants to contribute and support Rwanda on this path towards sustainable economic and social growth.
During the three technical workshops, Siemens demonstrated its expertise in the fields of power generation technologies, energy power transmission and secure and transparent building management.
“Siemens has strategically identified electrification as a catalyst to unlock the growth potential that Rwanda has in the region. Electricity will grow existing industries as well as create new ones. It also enables the advancement of social investments into priorities such as better management of buildings or of the healthcare sector. With our complete and integrated solutions portfolio we contribute to increasing industrial productivity, producing and using energy more efficiently, and sustainably managing buildings. Additionnaly, with our expertise in digitalization based on the open Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform Mindsphere, we are able to become your partner of choice in developing together new business models and give a real boost to the transformation of your industries and infrastructure Our forward-looking approach is based on a sustainable perspective, the principles of ethics and integrity”, said André Bouffioux, CEO of Siemens Belgium-Luxembourg and North, West and Central Africa.“
We intend to be the point of contact between the needs of Rwanda and the various Siemens centers around the world, and thus become a preferred partner. For developing our business, we work closely with local partners who provide local services to our customers. Finally, we are committed to contribute to the development of local skills and expertise and we intend to invest in partnership with universities.”
Advanced technological solutions to meet specific needs in electrification, automation and digitalization
Through its various divisions, Siemens’ solutions cover the entire energy value chain (from generation, transmission and distribution to the efficient use of energy in industries and buildings). They also meet the needs of industries active in several sectors (cement and mining, chemicals and petrochemicals, agro-food and water supply). They strengthen and improve mobility, a major element for sustainable development. Finally, they make it possible to equip buildings so that they are more secure, comfortable and energy-efficient.
Digitalization
Siemens launched its MindSphere IIoT operating system about a year ago. Around one million devices and systems are now connected together via MindSphere, and this figure is to reach 1.25 million by the end of fiscal 2018. Users enjoy the benefits of a powerful development environment, analysis functions and expanded connectivity. Industrial applications and digital services can be developed and run on MindSphere. For example, immense amounts of system-generated data can be quickly and efficiently captured, evaluated and used – for instance, to improve system performance and availability. This technology also helps customers evaluate and employ their data to gain new types of insights. For example, downtimes can be predicted and prevented. Users can also develop completely new business models. At the event on June 28th in Kigali, Siemens showcased all of its technology solutions, as well as some of its references, to a local audience of end customers, prospects, students and experts.
