Siemens Mobility and SBS Transit today announced the extension of an ongoing strategic partnership to ensure continued reliability and lifecycle support for Downtown Line (DTL) signalling system.

Long-Term Service Support for the Downtown Line Signalling System
The DTL currently runs on Siemens Mobility’s Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system since the start of its operations in 2013. A Long-Term Service Support (LTSS) contract was signed between Siemens Mobility and SBST in 2024, with the support of the Land Transport Authority (LTA), which laid the foundation of a long-term collaboration to provide spares, technical support, and obsolescence monitoring for DTL’s signalling system. The extension of LTSS contract will expand the scope of work to include obsolescence management and technology refresh and upgrades for the DTL signalling system till 2047.

Ensuring Long-Term Reliability Through Proactive Obsolescence Management
Transitioning from reactive to proactive obsolescence management, known and forecasted obsolescence for the DTL signalling subsystems and components will now be identified and replaced in an effective and efficient manner. This includes but is not limited to, the execution of necessary redesign, upgrade and qualification works at the subsystem or component level and ensuring adequate inventory for spare parts and continuous lifecycle monitoring.
Strengthening System Resilience Through IT Security Protection
As part of the extended contract, Siemens Mobility will also review system performance and configuration to ensure upgrades are seamlessly integrated into the local operating environment without compromising existing functionalities and operations of the system.
