Siemens, an innovation leader in automation and digitalization, and DMG MORI, a
leading global supplier of cutting-edge machine tools for turning, milling, and
grinding as well as for additive manufacturing, are presenting the first end-to-end
digital twin for machine tool machining on Siemens Xcelerator. Based on the
Digital Native CNC Sinumerik One, the offering includes the digital twin of the
controller, the customer-specific DMG MORI machine tool, and the workpiece and
is available now on Siemens Xcelerator Marketplace.

Siemens and the electric vehicle (EV) charging platform provider Monta have partnered to facilitate the expansion of
charging infrastructure across Europe. Siemens will use Monta’s Charge Point
Management System to manage its own fleet and charging points, as well
as to serve customers with a fully-fledged solution for EV charging at work, in
public and at home, enabling high availability.

The new Berlin S-Bahn fleet has been completed today: all 106 trains of
the new series are now in service. The trains, equipped with air conditioning, state-of-the-art
passenger information systems and cameras for greater security, offer passengers a new level of
comfort and convenience. The new fleet also increases the transport capacity in parts of the
city’s S-Bahn network, thus expanding services. In the course of replacing the older trains, the
number of cars per train was also increased. For customers, this has specific benefits: longer
trains operate on the Ring lines S41/S42 as well as the S8 line, and the S8 line is extended to
Wildau during peak hours. The new S-Bahn fleet now offers a total of around 18,000 seats. The
new trains have entered service successively since the beginning of 2021, and have been
operating on lines S41, S42, S46, S47 and S8 since then.

Siemens Mobility has
completed the first test runs with the Mireo Plus H hydrogen-powered train in
Bavaria. The two-car trainset will enter passenger service in mid-2024 on
routes between Augsburg and Füssen and Augsburg and Peissenberg on the rail
network of Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB). Pilot operations of the train are
planned for 30 months and are supported by the State of Bavaria. Siemens
Mobility and Bavaria signed the corresponding development partnership in 2021.

Siemens has received two major orders to set up
the charging infrastructure for electric buses (e-buses) in two cities in
Germany. In Hamburg, Siemens will again support Hamburger Hochbahn AG, one of
Germany´s largest public transport companies, in reaching its goal of operating
a completely emission-free bus fleet by 2030. In Saarlouis, Siemens will enable
the smooth transition to electric buses for Kreisverkehrsbetriebe Saarlouis
(KVS GmbH). The projects include planning, installing the charging
infrastructure and integrating it into the medium-voltage grid. This is
complemented by multi-year maintenance contracts. In Hamburg alone, eliminating
all diesel-powered buses will save approximately 66,000 tons of CO2
per year.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure has released key insights into the divisive nature of the infrastructure transition in a new report, titled “Siemens Infrastructure Transition Monitor 2023: The Great Divide on The Path to Net Zero.” Data from the report reveals that there is limited alignment on priorities and how best to progress towards a decarbonized and resource-efficient world. Whilst more than half of people surveyed believe the infrastructure transition is accelerating in their region, a quarter of participants - senior executives from seven major industry groups - said that progress is “too slow”, while 29 percent believe progress is “coordinated”, and 31 percent describe it as “on target”.

The new CNC generation from Siemens, which was launched on the market in 2019, comes with numerous innovations in software and hardware. With the new Sinumerik software version V6.22, there are new technology functions for the Sinumerik One that increase transparency in the machine, simplify operation, reduce machine wear, and increase performance. This leads to the optimal use of available resources, for example by reducing scrap and repairs. It also helps to increase machine productivity by minimizing idle and production times, for example.

Siemens Grid Software has secured a new contract with Northumbrian Water Group and deployed EnergyIP® MDM X, part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.
