New level of engine simulation – Siemens portfolio expansion supports modeling of combustion engines

Siemens Digital Industries Software is expanding its software portfolio with a new version of Simcenter Star-CCM+ simulation software.

The new combustion modeling capability allows engineers to quickly and easily assess the performance of petrol direct-injection engines and to automatically run engine speed and load sweeps. The connection of the Simcenter Star-CCM+ and Simcenter Nastran (simulation software for finite element analysis) simulation tools enables developers to quickly remove flow problems resulting from fluid-structure interaction. In the design of modern headlamps with multiple radiation emitting sources, the newly implemented Monte Carlo method is used to simulate photon transport. The Monte Carlo method is a statistical method that solves radiation problems more quickly and accurately than other methods.
