High resolution with double working memory – New additions to high-end portfolio with two separate Ethernet ports and twice the memory

Siemens further extends the hardware portfolio of the new high-end Simatic MV500 series to include the new Simatic MV560 U optical reader.

Siemens further extends the hardware portfolio of the new high-end Simatic MV500 series to include the new Simatic MV560 U optical reader.

The high image resolution means that the new optical reader is extremely good at reading particularly small codes in large image areas or for a large amount of codes on big objects. Due to the high resolution and the large working memory, completely new applications can now be accommodated, even on production lines running at high speed, and large numbers of images can be stored directly on the reader. The Simatic MV560 now includes a scan mode for separating image acquisition and image processing. A series of images is stored directly on the reader. On their basis secure reading of rapidly moving objects is also possible. The additional Gigabit Ethernet interface can be used for diagnostics and service purposes. Thus, images that are recorded in applications with very high read rates can be forwarded to an IT server and archived. The interface can also be used for service and maintenance. In addition, a network separation is possible, enabling simultaneous, fault-free communication from the camera to the controller, and from the camera to the server.

Comprehensive, powerful accessories

The Simatic MV500 portfolio is supplemented by high-performance accessories which can be individually configured, including lenses with electronic focus for automatic focusing of objects without manual intervention by the user, and flexibly controllable ring lights which can automatically change between a range of lighting options. The modular design of the readers, automatic focusing, and software-controlled choice of lighting allows different image processing applications to be easily and reliably implemented, even as production scenarios change. Configuration via a web-based management (WBM) and integration into the engineering framework TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) portal makes planning straightforward.

“One-button” configuration for easy set-up

The one-button configuration for network parameter allows automatic allocation of IP (internet protocol) addresses for a connected PC without administrator access rights. The one-button reading configuration allows the reading parameters, lens focus, and lighting to be adjusted automatically without accessing the operator interface (WBM).By using a Simatic S7-1500 controller and a CP 1545-1 communication processor, the Simatic MV560 readers can be safely and easily connected to cloud applications. Due to their compact design and IP67 protection rating (protection against the ingress of foreign particles and moisture), the devices – which are developed and manufactured in Germany- have an exceptionally high-quality standard and are particularly suitable for use in industrial applications where space is restricted.
