Press conference at the Hannover Messe 2018

On the first day of the Hannover Messe, April 23, Klaus Helmrich welcomed you to the annual Siemens Press Conference. As member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, Klaus Helmrich is responsible for the Digital Factory as well as Process Industries and Drives Divisions. The Press Conference took place at 6:30 PM in the Trade Fair's Convention Center, Room 1 A/B. Mr Helmrich talked about the latest developments of digitalization in the manufacturing and process industries under the theme "Digital Enterprise – Implement now!".

Energy Management Press Briefing 2018

Siemens Energy Management will hold a press briefing on the subject of "Innovative and future-proof energy distribution" on April 24. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Radisson Blu Hotel (near the exhibition grounds) with a presentation by Günter Kachelriess, R&D Medium-Voltage Technology and Dirk Helbig, CTO High Voltage Products. After that, Cedrik Neike, member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, and Beatrix Natter, CEO Power Transformers at Siemens, will present a new concept for the digitalization of transformers. This launch will take place at the Siemens booth, which we will be glad to give you a tour of afterwards.
Future-proof energy distribution means safe, digital and environmentally friendly energy distribution. Siemens Energy Management will present the new Blue GIS portfolio and a new concept for digital transformers at the press briefing.

Siemens is extending its Sinamics frequency converter portfolio for standard applications Sinamics V20 to include a new frame size, the FSAC in the voltage range 1AC (Alternating Current) 200 V to 240 V 1.1 kW to 1.5 kW. FSAC is replacing the previous FSB frame (1AC 200V).

There have also been some innovations in the Sinamics V90 servo drive portfolio, where the smallest frame size FSA is now also available as a Profinet version for 0.1 and 0.2 kW, which are covered by frame size FSB at the moment. These changes have enabled the footprint to be reduced by 10 millimeters, making the V90 FSA frame 18% smaller.

Apps for cloud-based services in automation

Siemens is launching a number of new apps concerning automation with Simatic systems. The new Simatic MindApps Machine Monitor, Notifier and Performance Monitor are special applications for MindSphere, the open IoT operating system from Siemens. These apps will enable users to make easy use of the advantages of cloud-based services and generate added value.

With its Sirius 3RW5 range, Siemens is launching a new generation of soft starters for simple to demanding drive requirements. Siemens has upgraded its Sitop PSU8600 power supply system with the addition of new supplementary modules to transform it into an uninterruptible direct current (DC) power supply. To achieve this, the new DC UPS module UPS8600 uses the energy stored in BAT8600 battery modules to keep the system up and running in the event of a power failure, and it extends the previous bridging times enabled by the buffer modules from just minutes to hours.

Press conference ahead of the Hannover Messe 2018

On Monday, February 26th, the traditional press conference prior to Hannover Messe took place. Insights into the company's planned business and technological orientation were provided by Dr. Jan Mrosik, CEO of the Digital Factory Division; Ralf Christian, CEO of Energy Management Division and Dr. Jürgen Brandes, CEO of the Process Industries and Drives Division.
